In order to bring the subject some meaningful context, I think it would certainly work to start a topic by initial reviewing its benefit. After that I would go through some simple cases. I should stress that there are no dumb questions, anything to help a student's understanding is essential. After I have actually run through a few examples, I wish to have the student gone through their own example, speaking with me as if they were the tutor and I was the tutee.
Many researches have shown that aiming to explain a principle you have a while ago found out aids exceptionally in remembering and understanding. If I'm satisfied with their teaching, I want to test their critical thinking by giving them a problem based on everything discovered in the lesson, yet with refined changes that require the tutee to proactively engage with the work, instead of be on "autopilot".
Homework will be set on the topic discussed (absolutely nothing too extreme), and also further lessons will be spent answering exam-styled questions prior to going on to the next theme.
Throughout sessions I would love to motivate a relatively casual, friendly atmosphere. I have a good time teaching, and also I hope students enjoy my training sessions, and an unwinded mind is better at learning.
